Thousands of books have been written about the latest and greatest diets that will help people lose weight and improve health. But a key element in any successful nutritional health program is a tried-and-true method that most people haven't thought about--yet it could be revolutionary for taking health to the next level. This ancient secret is fasting.

Fasting is not about starving oneself. When done right, it's an incredibly effective therapeutic approach that produces amazing results regardless of diet plan. In fact, Toronto-based nephrologist Dr. Jason Fung has used a variety of fasting protocols with more than 1,000 patients, with fantastic success. In "The Complete Guide to Fasting" he has teamed up with international bestselling author and veteran health podcaster Jimmy Moore to explain what fasting is really about, why it's so important, and how to fast in a way that improves health. Together, they make fasting as a therapeutic approach both practical and easy to understand.

"The Complete Guide to Fasting" explains:

- why fasting is actually good for health
- who can benefit from fasting (and who won't)
- the history of fasting
- the various ways to fast: intermittent, alternate-day, and extended fasting
- what to expect when starting to fast
- how to track progress while fasting
- the weight loss effects of fasting
- how to ward off potential negative effects from fasting.

The book also provides tools to help readers get started and get through their fasts, including a 7-Day Kick-Start Fasting Plan and healing liquid recipes.

  • Good information, bad format

Reading this book lacks a lot for a digital version. There is no chance to change the size of text without zooming in or out of an entire page.
  • Improper formatting

The book is probably helpful and full of great information, but I wasted $10 buying it in a format that I can’t read. Very disappointed that Apple didn’t do a better job formatting.
  • Very informative

Best guide to intermittent fasting and extended fasting
  • I totally blew it.

I should have got the sample first. You can’t use scroll view, every page looks like a tiny pdf, have to zoom in to read. I wish I could get my money back. This must be what the Toronto Raptors felt like!

Loved it so much information. Need to read it over again.
  • They were right, so hard to read!

I use iBooks to read because of my dyslexia but this book was impossible
  • Good book, horrible editing

    By Toreadoris
I bought this book to listen to with the disability speech and it’s almost imopossible to listen to as many words and sentences are fused into one making it impossible to understand what is being said as the words are unintelligible. This was a waste of my money and it’s shameful how a book with this reputation is badly edited and made un-usuable for the buyer.
  • Great content, poor format

The book is great, I highly recommend reading it. But understand that this is not an ebook, it’s a PDF. It also has a LOT of places where words run together without spaces in between them. If this will bother you, then buy a physical copy.
  • Great Book, Horrible Formatting!

    By Umbyology
This book is highly informative and very well written. It has tons of information regarding all aspects of fasting and ketosis. However, the iTunes version is atrocious. There are formatting issues throughout the entire publication, with word run-on’s and spacing issues all throughout, these issues make it very, very difficult to read. The fact that the publisher allowed this to even happen is nothing less then sheer unprofessional, proofreading laziness. I work in the digital publication industry and I understand how things could be overlooked occasionally, but this is gross negligence on the publishers part not to double check the final publication, and especially not to fix this in a timely manner, especially when there are people complaining about it throughout the reviews. They could fix this publication in a matter of an hour, if someone would just get on it.

Really good book…easy to read, easy to understand. My poor forehead hurts so much from me slapping it constantly with my hand saying, “That makes sense!” The book explains why all diets fail…They may work for a while, but then the body will adjust to whatever changes you make. It takes a full removal of food to make the lasting change of reducing insulin levels in your body. And remember kids, it’s the high insulin levels that cause all of the problems…do yourself a favor and get the book.
