Description

An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • OPRAH’S BOOK CLUB PICK • NAACP IMAGE AWARD WINNER

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

Just Wow! Michelle Obama writes of her life allowing us to see how human and real she is. From childhood to the Whitehouse with her husband Barack and her children, she allows us to see her life as she experienced it, both the good and the bad. She is smart, sensitive, and a woman who can be admired for her ability to genuinely care. I was always a fan but her sharing of vulnerabilities makes me feel truly connected like I could have a glass of wine and hang out with her woman "squad." You rock Michelle!

This book almost reads like an audio diary...in a good way. It I’d fresh, revealing, and warmly affirming.

You either don’t have a brain or you you were paid to leave a good review. I finished reading this with nothing new too add to anything . I didn’t learn anything insightful or inspiring. Not surprised it’s on the best sellers as Obama cut them an amazing deal......... So I did learn that money can buy you a spot on the best sellers list. Talent or achievements not needed, just money and lots of it, also just hating the USA helps as well. I’m a glass half full, not half empty person.

I am a bookworm 12 year old, and I LOVE this book. I have the audiobook version as well as the actual book, and I guess I can see how it would be “slow” or “boring”, but seriously, if you don’t like wordy stuff, get the audiobook! It is very well narrated. Michelle is SUCH an inspiration, and it’s really hurtful that people are saying “Michael Obama” and “Mitchell Obama” and “he” and talking about how she looks like a man on the cover. SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL, INDEPENDENT WOMAN THAT COULD WHOOP TRUMP’S BUTT IN AN ELECTION! Seriously, what’s the point of being a jerk about her looks and the, like, 2 MISTAKES SHE MADE? Seriously, Trump has made SO MANY MORE, and he is endangering all of our lives by being an idiot. People should stop giving this AMAZINGLY book bad reviews just because they didn’t support Obama as a president, and/or because they don’t like her political views, OR because they don’t like that a lot of the book was about politics. I mean, seriously, what did you guys expect? She’s OBAMA’S WIFE TALKING ABOUT HER LIFE, INCLUDING HER TIME AT THE WHITE HOUSE AND DURING THE ELECTION. I mean honestly, did you expect her to NOT talk about politics? I LOVE HOW ALL OF YOU ARE CALLING HER RACIST HAHAHAhahahaha..haha..ha...ha......ha.......*shoves face into a pillow and screams in frustration.* Buy this book! DOOOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIT! Well, of COURSE she won’t be president! She would DEFINITELY be an amazing president, but she doesn’t appreciate being put in the spotlight, and rightly so! Look at all of the people in these reviews alone calling her “Micheal!” Do you even feel the tiniest bit of remorse for the horrible things you are saying? Michelle Obama is a REAL. PERSON. How would you feel if someone started calling you a name belonging to your opposite gender? I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW SO MANY PEOPLE ARE BEING AWFUL???!!! I mean, seriously! READ THE BOOK! It’s very well written, and maybe it would help AT LEAST make you more empathetic! Hehehehe. Trump got impeached. I know it’s not nice to say “I told you so,” but.............I told you so!

So all these books being published are from the same publisher that Obama gave a 330 million dollar contract to, and recently the CEO stepped down.... hmmmm sounds real fishy. This book wasn’t written by Michael Obama... it was written by a professional

He won't tell you how he became Michelle. But one day you'll find out. Blind masses, so sad.

the chapters on her childhood are BORING. BEWARE. ch. 1-5 can be skipped. story picks up around ch. 6 when she applies to and leaves for Princeton. from then on it’s a good and interesting read and i flew through it pretty fast. interesting to hear how life in the White House was. Definitely buy this book.
