Viscount Rohan is a very bad man. Leader of the notorious Heavenly Host, he steers the dissolute and pleasure-seeking aristocracy in their revels. Content in his wickedness, he knows there is no room for a starchy, brave English spinster in his self-indulgent existence, but his body disagrees.

Elinor Harriman is so intent on protecting her baby sister and their dying mother that she doesn’t realize the danger she’s in. The notorious Viscount Rohan could have no interest in someone like her, thank God, and no idea that she melts with longing every time he touches her. She’s an intelligent, plain woman, and his tempting, his teasing has to be some kind of joke.

But Rohan takes his appetites very seriously, and sensible or not, he wants Elinor Harriman in his bed. There is only one problem with indulging himself–he’s starting to want her in his life as well. And that would destroy everything.

  • A quick read

A good pastime better go over things that do not make sense and you ll enjoy the book until the end

Not exactly what I’d normally read but entertaining nonetheless.
  • Good story but not in terms of consent

It’s a good story, but I wish the author wouldn’t have made a part of the guy’s backstory that he had raped someone in the past and that it wasn’t a problem.
  • Good Book

Good story, good writing, but the ending could have been better written. I felt unsatisfied with it’s conclusion. I wish more of what happened next to the characters was known.
  • Another Regency Romance

These are blessedly free usually which is why I read them as well as nostalgia from long ago in my extreme youth when I actually believed in the idea of romance. I’m now a jaded old harridan who has lost all thought of that and see relationships as basically contractual.

I loved this story! The characters were wonderfully developed - each so different from the other. The heartless Rohan who really had a heart. The stoic Reading who completely loved Lydia. The twists and turns were so interesting. I never wanted this story to end. Definitely a page turner.
