An Apple Books Classic

You get not one, not two, but >25 gripping mysteries in Arthur Conan Doyle’s first of five collections of Sherlock Holmes short stories. Follow the brilliant and eccentric Holmes and his loyal sidekick, Dr. Watson, as they journey to lavish country estates to investigate baffling cases involving indiscreet royal affairs, cheetahs, redheads, and gypsies. Every one of Conan Doyle’s tales is full of surprising - but always logical - twists. (Fun fact: This book includes “The Speckled Band,” the author’s self-proclaimed favorite of all 56 of his Sherlock Holmes short stories.)

  • It’s Sherlock.

There are few phrases that I think could have been better written as having been said by Holmes, but other than that, Sir Doyle has done an outstanding job at putting down detail and fact, as factual as can be, to keep an audience’s attention. I’ve always loved Sherlock Holmes stories and mysteries.

I’m usually a slow reader, but I finished this book only in a few days, while for others it would take weeks. The interesting, splendidly woven tales of mystery really snatched all my attention, and I haven’t read any of the longer tales written by Doyle yet, but I definitely will! Really recommend it!
