Description

The #1 New York Times Bestseller: “A hilarious take on that age-old problem: getting the beloved child to go to sleep” (NPR).

“Hell no, you can’t go to the bathroom. You know where you can go? The f**k to sleep.”

Go the F**k to Sleep is a book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland. Profane, affectionate, and radically honest, it captures the familiar—and unspoken—tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night.

Read by a host of celebrities, from Samuel L. Jackson to Jennifer Garner, this subversively funny bestselling storybook will not actually put your kids to sleep, but it will leave you laughing so hard you won’t care.

Despite all the hype, it's an average work. The subject is so compelling to the audience, hence the success. But the book doesn't nearly cracks it, I expected a lot more, especially for this price.

Now, my review is partly based on the fact that I got the audio book (read by Samuel L. Jackson - free giveaway when the book was first published) first, which is definitely worth 5 stars. The "book" book? Depends on if you've heard the audiobook. The ebook is short, so some may not think it's worth the price, even if the artwork's gorgeous and the story/poem is funny and cute. Since I DID get the audiobook first, I'll give the ebook 4 stars. Otherwise, maybe only 3 because it's not quite as funny. Now, if you're a Puritan, or thought you could read this to children (Are you insane? Did you read the title of the book?), then you might be upset over the language...although, how that's possible, unless you closed your eyes when you clicked "Buy," escapes me. Bottom line is that it's a "cute" book...it's hilarious if you also get the audiobook (highly recommended).
